Maintain your Vehicle |
|
The main thing you try to reduce when you want to cut your gas use is friction. Air friction, tire friction, engine friction. The more friction that you encounter, the more gas you waste. Air and tire friction can be reduced by slowing down, but another culprit for increased friction is poor automobile maintenance. |

Tire Pressure |
|
Make sure your tires are aired up to the best PSI. Most tires are not checked regularly and as a result they tend to run below there optimal pressure. Check your sidewall or refer to car or tire documentation for more information. It's a good idea to check your tires at least once per tank. I prefer to check them every week. |

When a car is poorly aligned it can pull slightly to the left or the right. |

The basic idea here is to pick a route that burns the least amount of fuel. Sometimes this may actually mean driving slightly further to find a route that doesn't require high speeds (over 60 MPH) or many stops. |
